The Unexpected Gift
An open letter to Atomic Skis from Casey Boone
Logan and Riley were asked and have been involved in the design and development of the new ski series from Atomic the Maverick and the Maven, skis designed in America, built in Austria for release for the 2021/2022 ski season. Riley and Logan during this process have worked with Mike Macquarrie, Atomic’s Colorado Representative, Atomic athletes and head engineers. It’s always refreshing when a ski company takes the time time to listen and react to input by speciality retailers who have dedicated lifetimes to the industry.
We ski test over 25 different ski manufactures and untold ski models from those companies. The Brothers Boone have an encyclopedic memory of not only current skis, but what occurred 5, 10 and even 15 years ago. I believe it was very smart to have involved the brothers from the start.
As many of you know I’ve been skiing my entire life and in the ski industry as of next year 50 years.
In appreciation of that work and the friendship that has ensued Mike gave the brothers and me two days in Telluride with Telluride Helitrax. If you don't know about this Colorado based helicopter ski operation, it is by far one of the best here. Definitely go check them out! Anyways...
As many of you know I’ve been skiing my entire life and in the ski industry for over 50 years. This without question was the kindest gift and acknowledgement any ski rep or company has ever given me or my family. It’s really, really nice when mom and pop retail shops are acknowledged by the trades.
I'm feeling very sentimental these days, I know, I’m one of the very lucky few who am able to not only work with my kids and now their families but get to participate in sharing the appreciation of the outdoors and the shear beauty that surrounds us. In truth, I only lasted one of the two days, the springtime variable snowpack took a toll on my legs but the memories of that day will last my lifetime. My deepest thanks you guys..... till next year.
