The Job:
Requirements:
Seasonal Retail Sales Associates (SRSA) play a vital role in our store as the face and first point of contact with all customers at Boone Mountain Sports. Your initial and consequent interactions will leave lasting impressions on everyone who walks through the door. Therefore, SRSAs should be friendly and customer service oriented. SRSAs work all scheduled shifts, answer phone calls promptly, attend all vendor clinics, and provide customers with professional knowledge, expertise, and recommendations for soft and hard goods. Recommendations should be based on the customer's ability, personal preferences, and financial budget. SRSAs should be prepared to work weekends and holidays. Also, be ready to work long hours at peak times. SRSAs should have excellent communication skills and maintain composure when the shop is busy. When the store is quiet, SRSAs are expected to be productive by cleaning, steaming, merchandising, straightening, and working on gear reviews. Boone Mountain Sports is built on providing a welcoming environment for patrons, friends, and family. It is a home away from home for many, and we expect our sales staff to continue in this tradition and set the appropriate tone.
Additional Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sales Associate or similar role, preferably in an outdoor retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of outdoor industry goods.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-centric approach.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and handle multiple customers simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- A passion for mountain sports and experience using outdoor equipment.
- Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and during peak ski seasons.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Sales:
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Recommend and sell all products to customers in-store and over the phone.
- Drive sales through positive customer engagement by asking questions, suggestive selling, and product knowledge.
Greet and receive customers in a welcoming manner.
- Respond to customers’ questions promptly and knowledgeably.
- Direct customers to what they need by escorting them to desired products and counters.
Point of Sale:
Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system:
- Opening and closing procedures
- Customer profile lookup
Issue refunds and or credits to accounts
- Lookup past sales and transactions
Find products
- Price adjustments
- Document sales by creating or updating customer profile records.
- Manage financial transactions.
- Write a nightly summary with a brief overview of the day and a quick inventory status update.
Order Fulfillment:
- Manage in-store online order pickups and special order pickups
- Help with ski, snowboard, and boot maintenance pickups (must have customers sign all correlating documents and release forms).
- Pull products off the floor for online order shipments.
- Edit customer orders before fulfillment, and communicate with other departments to make appropriate adjustments
- Document customer requests/interactions in the point of sale or rental system.
- Communicate needs with staff in the appropriate department.
Store Upkeep:
Assist in cleaning the storefront and building, including:
- Vacuum/sweep the shop and hallways
- Clean the bathroom
- Take out the trash/recycling behind the front counter and bathrooms
- Wipe counters down and maintain an orderly, organized back counter
- Organize the back-stock closets
Product Knowledge:
- Attend all product clinics and stay up-to-date with product offerings at Boone Mountain Sports.
Assist in ski and snowboard rental procedures:
- Understand the rental platform
- Assess and check-in customers’ equipment for appropriate services for our team of ski technicians (tunes, mounts, repairs, etc.).
- Measure feet and be able to assist in putting ski boots on (also essential for footwear sales)
- Choose appropriate ski or snowboard rentals for patrons
- Other tasks as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
Merchandising Role:
- Move new products to the floor
- Replenish and restock from backstock and continuously merchandise throughout the day, keeping the store displays fresh.
- Re-distribute and re-organize the merchandise layout to allow for maximum shop-ability
- Highlight new arrivals and sale products
- Communicate to buyers about what product is selling and is not selling
Seasonal Retail Sales Associate Annual Work Schedule:
SRSAs usually work from September through March. In March, staffing levels are re-evaluated, and considerations about next year are made. Depending on individual job performance reviews, work ethics, and the shop's needs, there may be an opportunity for part-time summer work.
Our peak ski-season schedule (September - March) hours will vary based on demand. Full-time SRSAs work between 30-40 hours/week. Please be prepared to work weekends, which means fewer crowds on the ski hill for you!

As a leader in the ski world, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Ski Technician to join our team at Boone Mountain Sports. As a Ski Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers have a comfortable and enjoyable skiing experience. Your primary responsibility will be to provide personalized ski services to skiers of all levels, ensuring proper fit, comfort, and performance. Seasonal Ski Boot Fitters (SSBFs) play a vital role in our store as the leading business in the I-70 corridor to offer this world-class service. Our boot-fitting experience is like no other, and we take great pride in our staff’s superior ability to provide a great fit and, therefore, an outstanding experience on the slopes for all of our customers. SSBFs should be friendly and customer service oriented. SSBFs work all scheduled shifts, answer phone calls promptly, attend all vendor clinics, and provide customers with professional knowledge, expertise, and recommendations for soft and hard goods. Customer Consultation:
- Engage in detailed consultations with customers to understand their skiing ability, style, and preferences.

Measurement and Analysis:
- Utilize various tools and equipment to measure customers' feet, such as Brannock devices, foot scanners, and measuring tapes.
- Analyze the results to determine the appropriate boot size, width, and flex.
Boot Modification:
- Perform necessary modifications to ski boots, including: stretching, grinding, padding, and heat molding, to achieve a customized fit and enhance performance.
Product Knowledge:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in ski boot technology, brands, and models.
- Provide accurate and detailed product information to customers, making recommendations based on their specific needs.
Sales and Inventory Management:
- Assist customers in selecting suitable ski boots, accessories, and related products.
Maintain inventory accuracy, monitor stock levels, and place orders when necessary.
- Customer Service:
Provide exceptional customer service throughout the fitting process, building rapport and trust with customers.
Address any post-fitting adjustments or concerns promptly and professionally.
Collaboration:
